Our Services . . . Who we serve and what we do Amethyst
Place serves homeless mothers and pregnant women who have a child or
children residing with them or are within 30 days of reunification.
Potential residents must be in recovery from alcohol and/or other
drug addiction and have achieved at least 30 days of confirmed
sobriety. While at Amethyst Place, women maintain close contact with
their case managers to develop a working treatment plan during their
stay.Amethyst Place families reside in well-maintained, fully furnished, two and three-bedroom apartments in the heart of Historic Longfellow/Dutch Hill Neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri. Currently, the program serves eleven families at a time. Each family is governed by the rules and guidelines set forth by Amethyst Place. Here, women in recovery and their children live in private, secure apartments of their own within a community of other families with the mutual goal of maintaining a healthy and drug-free life. The Missouri Department of Mental Health provides monthly funding to Amethyst Place to cover rent and utilities. Each resident contributes 30% of their adjusted gross income to Amethyst Place to cover program related services.
